Gradual decline by American Christians

When we see documentaries about the North American people we get a picture that they are 'very religious'.

Christianity, which was once shared by a majority of Americans, has seen a gradual decline as fewer people hold to the core tenets of the faith.

The latest research by the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University continues the survey series American Worldview Inventory 2021 in examining biblical and competing worldviews of American adults.

According to the most recent release from the study, there has been a sharp decline in the status of Christianity across the nation in the past several decades. In 1980, more than 90 percent of Americans claimed to be Christian. That percentage dropped to 80 percent by 1990, in which the proportion lasted until after the turn of the millennium. By 2010, only three in four adults claimed to be Christians, with a further decline today as just under two out of three make the same claim.

In the previous century confidence in religion was still important.
About two-thirds of American adults had high confidence in religion in the 1970s. By the 1980s, however, that confidence was waning, and Christianity’s influence was declining.
At the start of the millennium, 56 percent of adults had confidence in religion. That number continued to decline, and now, barely four in ten adults hold a high degree of confidence in religion.

No wonder, you could say, when we look at how ministers used their institutions to gain money and trick people into their 'business'. Small personal family churches were taken over by mega churches where one got lost in the group and where there was not a special bond between teh believers.

A great problem is also that the majority of those churches are Trinitarian churches, where they worship Jesus as their god. Though people came to see the weakness of that person and the contradictions they can find in Scriptures, having a Jesus who can not do a lot of things and does not know a lot of things, whilst the Bible tells us God can do everything and knows everything.

The Bible is also increasingly rejected as a trustworthy and relevant document of life principles. Not many people want to know about the values and ethics presented in the Holy Scriptures.

In 1991, 86 percent of people believed in the existence of God as the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the universe who still rules the world today. Today, that percentage has dropped to 46 percent.

In a lot of the American churches there was not much time spend on the Word of God. Ministers only took some verses, often out of context, to bring a long sermon, often with a lot of shouting and crying about damnation and danger to burn into hell. Often people could not find a relation between the words of the pastor and the words written in the Bible. That undermined the relevance of the Holy Scriptures in the daily life.

Regarding the belief that the Bible is the accurate and reliable Word of God, the decline shifted from 70 percent in 1991 to 41 percent in 2021. On the topic of salvation, 36 percent of adults believed in salvation through confession of sin and accepting Jesus as Saviour in 1991. Today, that amount is 30 percent. The survey also noted that this measured as high as 45 percent and was 39 percent in 2011.

The percentage of Americans possessing a biblical worldview also significantly decline (12 percent in 1995; 6 percent in 2021).

Voted against their system

In the United States of America we could see something which we in Europe should take as a serious warning. A few years back Belgium had already such a warning. That "black Sunday" the extreme right party Vlaams Blok gained a lot of votes. Undemocratic they became cast away, having the other parties creating a "blok sanitair".

That party and its present sibling Vlaams Belang used and still use the same fearmongering as Donald Trump, and are made of the same wood as Nigel Farage a.o.

While Clinton may have won a majority sliver of the popular vote, Americans have revolted against their own political culture, against the entire American political class. They saw in Donald Trump the man who was daring to open all the wounds of the system and to throw with mud to all who belonged to the establishment. This was clearly an anti-establishment vote.

From the outcome we should learn and prepare ourselves so that it not spread like a cancer, but shall be a virus we shall be able to control.

For the Americans the problem is that their system is rigid. The system is rigged, and it is rigged particularly against American working people. the way of giving mandates is also not democratic. It is really getting high time for the United states and for Great Britain to appoint the places according to the percentage of votes.

The American clouds of Anti-Semitism

69 years old Larry Jacob who was born and raised in New York had not his ears and eyes closed the last months. He is aware of the danger that lures around the corner.

In his article "Modern anti-Semitism" for the Times of Israel he notices that
Many modern-day American Jews are unaware of the current depth and pervasiveness of anti-Semitism (“AS”) in the U.S..
Therefore he warns them they are feeling too much at ease, thinking that their rights are protected by anti-discrimination laws, such as Title VI. A problem may be that
they are too busy earning a living and raising a family to focus on AS.
Jacob understands that but
that does not diminish the clear and present danger it represents.
In the previous moths we have seen many documentaries on the American white evangelist lobbies who promote weapon bearing and could hear how they think about "the Jews who killed Jesus". I myself had some correspondence with such 'devout' American evangelicals who are convinced that Jews are the evil of the world and who are convinced the world better could be cleansed from that race.

Anti-Semitism (AS) and other forms of discrimination may officially be prohibited by various federal and state laws in the United States of America, but it looked lie this was only on paper and not something for the reality or to be taken serious by a big group of American citizens.

Jacob writes
it is also true that attitudes and beliefs cannot be completely controlled by laws.  AS has not yet risen to the level of the 19th Century Russian pogroms or the organized terror of 1930s Nazi Germany, but, ...  AS is still present in the 21st Century, even in the US.  Often, it is more subtle, but, nevertheless, it permeates many areas of our culture.
Also Adele M. Stan the same as we could not do without the idea where Trump could have got the mustard from. Looking at Trump his speech she wrote on AlterNet
The speech was hinged to the original purpose of his campaign: to trade on the resentments of a restive remnant of white America — angry white men and the women who love them — and set the stage for mayhem in the wake of his likely electoral defeat.
This was not your standard, off-the-cuff Trump rant. This was a scripted speech, delivered with a teleprompter. It was crafted. It featured the key words of right-wing complaints: “sovereign,” “global bankers” and “slander.” Really, it came right out of a Nazi propaganda playbook. And when one considers the themes common between Nazi propaganda films and the films made by top Trump campaign staffers Stephen K. Bannon and David Bossie (as analyzed by AlterNet), we should hardly be surprised.
Our thought that Trump sees everywhere a conspiracy against him was confirmed in the debate, him beginning with an attack on the New York Times (whose majority owners are a Jewish family), which he said was engaged in a conspiracy of global proportions with the Clintons, international bankers and major corporations, all to stop him from winning the presidency.

Jews the next scapegoat for Donald Trump

In the United States of America Ashkenazi American Jews have had white privilege since at least after World War II. Most Jews could build up a nice life in the States and managed to get in some high positions.

Until the preparation for the election of the new president this year they never experienced some examples of it that other ethnicities have and had not to worry about showing to others which religion they belonged to. But when Donald trump came into the picture as a candidate for the presidency this changed in the negative sense.

Suddenly it became clear that Jews are still more “ethnic” than other white Americans, leaving them more vulnerable to prejudice. And that prejudice grew by the many remarks which were made at the sideline as well on several speakers platforms of the Republicans.

During his campaign Trump showed his right-wing tendencies and welcomed many of his volatile anti-Semites supporters. Being a right-wing, populist, authoritarian demagogue with no political credentials and not with enough political knowledge. all the time he never came up with some serious political propositions for the future, but did everything to attack his opponents and telling lots of things which were far from the truth.

I cannot understand ho this man of 'big words', showing no respect for others, got such a following even from women whom he considers a lower species, having no right to decide for themselves. We can see that by his daring to attack the system and doubting the integrity of the state, enjoying fear-mongering and open bigotry he could build up an unbelievable group of followers who seem to take everything he says, though quite often he came to say the opposite of what he said before. He managed to have those who do not think for themselves behind him.

Trump in his debate yesterday clearly expressed when he would be president he would people on the major posts  who follow his ideas. And that would make it very dangerously for the freedom of the American citizen. All the previous months he showed his contempt for the American system and called for a ban on Muslim, Mexican and other immigration of noon-white folks as well as on the deportation of American citizens born to undocumented immigrants and the loosening of libel laws, proposals which blatantly violate the First, Fifth and 14th Amendments.

That Trump is loved by Putin may be not a surprise both being cut of the same wood. But this also meaning that when Trump would come into power he also could start taking care to get rid of all who oppose him and to make a dictatorial state.
Americans better would look to some other lunatics in Europe who managed to promise the people a lot, but who once in power created a horrible place for many living in the country of their demagogy.

We can only hope the majority of Americans shall use their brains and shall prefer to chose for their country more than for their party. Because Americans should be aware of the danger this man could bring not only to their own country but also to the whole world. That is the reason why this election has also become so important for us Europeans and for other nations who can see this man who would not mind creating one or another war or being the cause of it.

Americans should also be aware that once in power this man who showed his disgust for non-whites and non-christians (though I wonder to which denomination he belongs and if he is an active Christian) As a dictator, one can only imagine what Trump would be willing and able to do to the various ethnic, racial, and religious minorities toward whom he has promoted animosity throughout his campaign. Once he has his way with African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans and Muslim-Americans, Trump will need to find a new scapegoat to preserve the paranoia his supporters experience which drives them to rally behind him, and he clearly gave already enough signs that it will be those Jews of which he would be happy that they clear out of his country with the Zionists as soon as possible to Israel where they can fight with the Arabs on their own.

Is the practice of religious freedom in danger in the United States of America

U.S Postage Stamp, 1957

The Islamophobia in many democratic countries makes it a danger for the religious freedom. Even the coutnry that always says it is so proud to be the 'Country of the free' and where they shout carrying weapons is part of the freedom, they seem to be willing to restrict the freedom of religion.

Lots of Americans are wanting that others only believe what they believe and how they practice their Christian faith.

According to many their president is an obstruction for Christians but I think he is the best for all Americans, believers and non-believers who all should have the same right when living in a free country. America at the moment has also a president with sense. At the moment he is also aware of the danger coming over America.

With all the fear going on and a bully shouting America should put up walls against others coming in, the president sees it useful to call to his people

The recent terrorist attack that was carried out by Muslim extremists in San Bernardino, California was a tragic event. The killing of 14 innocent people have caused many U.S. citizens to live in fear, and they would like special measures and surveillance placed on all Muslims. Some people would even like them all deported from the country.
What people need to understand is that there have been many hundreds, if not thousands of attacks and killings in the history of this country carried out by American Christian and non-Muslim terrorists than there have been by Muslims. The crime facts show that if you or a loved one was to be murdered, it would most likely to be done by the hands of a family member or friend than anyone else. The next most probable terrorist that may try and take your life would be at church by a crazed Christian hell bent on doing God's work or at school or a movie theater by a drugged up teenager who wants their 5 minutes of sick fame.

So, let us use logic and reason to show us our true realities and do not let media fear and or religious nuts sway you from the truth.
The facts are that there are currently over 7 million Muslims living in the United States of America and their numbers are growing every year. To put it simply, there will be many more people of this faith coming to the states in the near future, and Muslims will always be a part of the American landscape. In fact, they have been here since the founding of our country.

Government school classroom assignment on world religions in discussion and Islamophobia gone wild

The Shahadah (first part ašhadu 'al-lā ilāha i...
The Shahadah (first part ašhadu 'al-lā ilāha illā-llāh - I testify that there is no god (ilah) but God (Allah)), the creed of Islam. The letter Alif is highlighted in red to demonstrate its different usage in Arabic scripture. This illustration was designed in order to teach the letter Alif, but not the creed itself! (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
At a Virginia high school (Riverheads High School in Staunton) understandably a lesson in calligraphy for ninth-graders has caused an uproar among some parents. But the Virginia school district is defending the classroom assignment that required students to practice calligraphy by writing the Muslim statement of faith,
“There is no god but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
For the first part the Christian Americans should not be afraid because they too should believe that there is only One God, only Allah the Elohim Adonai, Hashem Jehovah. the God of Abraham should be the only One true God for Jews, Christians and Muslims.

It can not be called bad to have during a world geography class to have the students to feel how it is to live in a certain area and to dress like the people who live in such area.  I would call that a very good integrated lesson.
The lesson of the day focused on world religions, among them Islam. As part of the assignment, social studies teacher Cheryl LaPorte had her ninth-grade students copy a piece of Arabic text known as the shahada, which is the most common Islamic creed.
Recitation of the shahada in public is the first formal step in conversion to Islam. However, according to school officials, the ninth-graders were not asked to translate the statement or read it aloud.
Students were also shown copies of the Koran, and female students were invited to try on a scarf as part of a lesson about the Islamic concept of modest dress.
Parents being infuriated to see that their children learned Arabic should know that it is a language spoken in many countries and in case Westerners would be able to read and understand it they could understand much more what is written on slogans and in books and could answer the right way to those speaking about the Arabic books or saying something wrong what would so called be written in those books.

It is also totally wrong to think a teacher would indoctrinate her pupils by talking about the Islam faith or any other faith and to have their kids reading the books of that faith.

Parent Kimberly Herndon was infuriated when her son came home with the assignment sheet from Mrs LaPorte’s world geography class.
‘When I saw the language, the Arabic language, immediately I had a bad feeling come over me,’ the mother of six told NBC29.
Herndon, who is a devout Christian, accused the teacher of indoctrinating unsuspecting students into the Islamic faith. The mother has not sent her son back to school since the incident and said she would be willing to take this case all the way to the US Supreme Court if she must.
‘She [LaPorte] gave up the Lord’s time,’ Herndon said of the religious lesson when speaking to the Staunton News Leader. ‘She gave it up and gave it to Mohammed.’
The Augusta County parent on Tuesday organized a meeting attended by more than 100 people at Good New Ministries to discuss the controversial calligraphy lesson.
Debbie Ballew, a former English teacher who was present up at the public forum, said had she asked her students to copy a passage from the Bible, she would have lost her job.
Strange that the teacher would have lost  her job when she would have asked to copy a passage from the Bible. Even more strange that such an exclusion would take place in the United
States of America which always shouts it is so proud about her constitution including 'Freedom'.

‘Out of an abundance of caution’
after consulting with law enforcement Augusta County School Board President Eric Bond noted that there was no specific threat to students but announced Thursday that schools would be closed Friday over security concerns sparked by parents’ outrage in response to an Arabic calligraphy lesson.

Recitation of the shahada in public is for many considered the first formal step in conversion to Islam. However, according to school officials, the ninth-graders were not asked to translate the statement or read it aloud.

 Bond said
It’s a sad state of affairs when we’ve reached the point where children can’t even learn what Arabic or Islam is without offending someone’s fragile sensibilities.
 Arabic calligraphy

There are countries, like Belgium where religious education is obligatory and children have to learn about all major religions of the world. As such they learn about the monotheist faiths and about several heathen religions. Having to read the Torah, Nevim, Kethuvim Aleph, Kethuvim Bet (or Messianic Scriptures or New Testament), the Koran and certain Buddhist and Hindy sacred scriptures they can get a pretty idea what the believers of those faiths should follow.

In lots of faiths we do see that fundamentalist can get so strong because many followers of them do not get to know their Holy Scriptures very well.

In many countries we also see that lots of people do not know their own Sacred Scriptures, and that is why we see lots of them not living according to the faith rules of the books they are so called to follow.

Having children to know the other culture can best be done by dumpling them under in such a culture.

This is a very good way to have children getting an idea about a culture and about how people who live in a certain area can feel themselves or how they have to live.

Ideal would be to have them dress, eat and having to do the same activities as others would have to do in the region studied or when it would be about camps and torturing to have a sort of experience what it would be in such a camps and under such interrogation. In Latvia (Letland) people can have such an experience how it was under Soviet regime. In the Riga camp special tours are organised to 'undergo' one day or 'a day and a night' a similar experience the prisoners would have had. Many people eyes are opened by such experiences and come to appreciate the values of the democratic free countries much more.

Congratulations for the teacher who dared to tackle the difficult subject and has done a lot of preparation to work out her class.
