Getting to know the Truth

A question and answer television program broadcast over KAZT-TV Channel 7, in Prescott, Arizona, to over 3,000,000 homes on Sundays @ 7:30 AM. brought this question forwards:
Q. How can we know for certain what is absolutely true in Bible teaching?  Should we not just accept everyone, and not bind our views on others?

These verses will make it clear:
John 8:32 (NAS95)
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21
20 do not despise prophetic utterances.
 21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
1 John 4:1
4:1 ¶ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
.Acts 17:11
11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
1 Timothy 4:1-3
4:1 ¶ But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
3 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.
1 Timothy 4:6-11
6 ¶ In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following.
 7 But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;
8 for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
9 It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance.
10 For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.
11 Prescribe and teach these things
2 Thessalonians 2:11-15
11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,
12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.
13 ¶ But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.
14 It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.
We can know the truth when we love the Word of God enough to accept it, and it alone in matters of religion.

What English Bible do you use?

Do you have a Bible at home? Do you read it regularly?
Have you more then one Bible version in the house? Which translation do you prefer?
Though the major religions of the world are founded upon the writings of men, we as Christians do believe that we have the Word of God brought to us by worldly man, but those writers say it are not their words, but the Holy Words of the Creator of this universe.
The Bible exists among us as one book and maintains one view of human nature from beginning to end. Yet it is in fact composed of more than 60 books, written by over 40 different authors, and its compilation extended from the days of Moses (1400 BC) to the days of the apostle John (end of 1st Century AD), a period of 1,500 years. Its writings are not just philosophical predictions. They are rooted in human history, dealing with actual nations and real people.
Consistently we do find in it the exposure of the natural tendencies of man, national pride, corrupt kings, self-indulgent desire for power and possessions, readiness to adopt other nations' idolatries, allied with a persistent rejection of the enlightened commandments of their God, the good but also the bad things they did, even of the writers. Everything was written down to educate the people of this world.
Those writings became translated in many languages so that everybody could read it in a tongue they could understand. But as men we have our preferences. So "what is your favourite?", is the question of this month.

Apple of Gods eye

“For  thus saith Jehovah of hosts: After glory hath he sent me unto the  nations which plundered you; for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple  of his eye.”(Zechariah 2:8 ASV)

God has revealed himself to the world in ways that we can understand.  He has given us His Word in which He also shows His concern about the  Jews – God’s people and the ‘apple of his eye’ (Zechariah 2:8).

God chose Israel as a nation to show forth his glory:
“For  thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God: Jehovah thy God hath  chosen thee to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples  that are upon the face of the earth.” (Deuteronomy 7:6 ASV)

God said that the Jews are the evidence of his existence:
“Ye  are my witnesses, saith Jehovah, and my servant whom I have chosen;  that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me  there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.” (Isaiah 43:10  ASV)
Genesis chapter 12. God made promises to  Abraham, the first Jew – that  he would have descendants (the Jews), a  land (Israel), that because of  him not just they but the whole world  would be blessed. Jehovah  made further promises to Abraham's ancestors ,   Isaac and Jacob.

Much  later, in Galatians 3 verse 16, we learn  that these promises also refer  to Jesus Christ: “To Abraham and his  seed were the promises made,” and  that seed (descendant) is Jesus. The  covenant later  opened out to include people of all races who are  faithful (Galatians  3:28-29;  Psalm 103:17-18; Psalm 50:16-23).

There  are prophecies about the nation that are yet to be fulfilled. All  the  indications are that they will be fulfilled soon. (Read Zechariah   chapters 12 and 13.)

National Natural Disaster and Bible Prophecy

Is God in control of the National Natural Disasters which crossed Australia? What is the role of Britain in Bible Prophecy?

Andy Walton looks specifically at the Queen of Sheba, Tarshish and Tyre and how they are all linked.
Andy made a cd which includes TWO Bible talks. The Natural National Disaster talk was given as a public lecture recently. It should be beneficial for anyone including interested friends. The Role of Britain in Bible Prophecy was given as a Bible Class and does assume a basic understanding of our core beliefs. eg Christ's return. Both talks have the full powerpoint and audio in a video format.
How does the CD work?
The CD only works on a computer. It runs automatically. The video file is in a WMV format and should work fine on all computers.
NOTE: If you have a MAC the CD will not autorun but you can open the CD, find the files and open from there.

Debit crisis in Greece seen as wich threat

The Greek crisis and the Roman empire

The debit crisis in Greece is seen by some as a threat to the survival of the euro as a common currency. However, the leaders of Europe see the solution to this financial difficulty in closer political integration, a development that Bible prophecy leads us to expect. | Read more | April 2010 News from the Nations
