Evolution of life but not according to Darwin's evolution theory

The Watchtower Society presents videoclips. The April 2016 broadcast sees William Malenfant introducing a new feature in which scientists who happen to be Jehovah’s Witnesses are interviewed about their views on evolution. Yaroslav Dovhanych, a Russian zoologist, and Professor Raj Kalaria, a brain researcher at England’s Newcastle University in England.

Describing his pre-creationist experience Dovhanych says:
“The evolutionary theory, in my opinion, quite reasonably argued that there is no creator.”
According to him the evolution theory argues that everything was shaped by a series of random changes and combinations.

For many it seems difficult to see that evolution is a guided process, even if natural forces rather than a supreme celestial supervisor are doing the guiding. when you look around yourself, in your family, you will notice many changes by you against your ancestors. Continually we are evolving.

Dovhanych started to wonder about the evolution theory and noticed things that contradicted the Darwin theory of evolution.
“Can anyone say that some computer programs appeared simply by chance? In contrast, evolutionists would like us to believe that DNA was formed by evolution. To illustrate, say you take some letter blocks, pour them on to the table, and the Encyclopaedia Britannica is formed. There is an even smaller probability that DNA originated by evolution.”
he says.

Raj Kalaria does find that
“We were taught about evolution of life, and this was just part of the curriculum,”
and looks at his years of training when scientist tried to look at all things withouth taking God in the picture.
“At the time there were no other options, as it were. God did not come in the picture at all, or God creating the heavens and the earth, as it were, never came in the picture.”

Kalaria supports the belief that human life can continue once a brain dies certain people will be able to live as spirit creatures in heaven, and these kingly entities will rule over a future Earth populated solely by Jehovah’s Witnesses, many of whom will be resurrected with new brains to replace the ones they lost at death.

“We started looking at the nerve cells themselves in terms of the volume and the number,”
 says Kalaria,
“And it’s phenomenal that in that small area of the brain there are some 1.4 billion neurons. So the number of connections that make us, synapses they make, is phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal. And so when you think about the complexity of all that, how is it possible that that is just by random chance? It has to be guided.”
Those scientists who find such ideas ludicrous because for them it is impossible that there would exist such a deity because it must have been vastly complex in the first place. they seem to forget that makes Him the Omnipotent One.

Old Earth creationists and other conservative Christians denying any evolution

Views on Evolution
Views on Evolution (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
When we looked at North America the last ten years we could see that very conservative Christians gained terrain and could blown up the whole evolution thing in a ridiculous way.

A big problem with the creationists is that they all undermine the normal Christian thinking and Christian concept of creation and the relationship of man versus the creation. Very bad, not to say 'ridiculous' is their ignorant attitude to all historical and scientific findings, which makes others to step away form such people who do not want to believe what we all can see with our own eyes.

Their wrong concept of evolution is not taken on by all Christians, and the world should know than there are enough Christians who look at creation in other ways than they do.

Irving Hexham, a religion and politics professor at the University of Calgary, said evolution - like abortion - is a divisive issue among evangelical Christians. He doesn't think there is any reason why Christians can't believe in evolution, and throughout the world, a lot of Christians do.

Natalie Odd, an Alberta Party member and mother of two, attended an open house held by Mr. Gordon Dirks over the weekend, hoping to confront the minister about spending cuts. Having taken him aside she also began to question him about another evolution.

"He said, it's possible to believe in creation and evolution. I wasn't getting an answer out of him," she said. "As we were walking away, he threw up his hands and said: ‘I'm an Old Earth Guy.'"

The comments were confirmed by other attendees, and Mr. Heyman.
Ms. Odd said she had to look the phrase up on the Internet as she was unfamiliar with it.

Brian Alters knows the term quite well, however. Alters is president for the U.S.-based National Center for Science Education, a professor at Chapman University in California and previously on the faculty of McGill University. He said "Old Earth" creationism encompasses a spectrum of beliefs. Old Earth creationists generally accept that the earth is older than 10,000 years. Beyond that, however, beliefs range. Some believe that evolution is the mechanism by which God guides life on earth. Others totally reject the generally accepted scientific theory of biological evolution.

Mr. Dirks declined to elaborate on his view further when questioned by the Post.

"With the education minister, if this is something that he practices in his place of worship with colleagues of similar faith, I think most scientists wouldn't have the slightest problem," Mr. Alters said. "The problem is if the education minister says ‘I'm an Old Earth creationist because I think there's credible evidence against evolution. I find evolution to not be credible.' Then we have big problems, Houston."

Living on the Edge

Kenneth Gilmore
Kenneth Gilmore0
For those who may have questions about Jonathan Burke's book "Living on the Edge", here's a FAQ list:

1. What is this book about?

Upholding and defending our beliefs and values, and proving they are relevant to the modern world, is very difficult without the kind of evidence evidence which non-religious people will find convincing. This book aims to provide that evidence.

2. Could you give an overview of the book?

The main section headings are 'Living on the edge of certainty', addressing doubts about our beliefs, 'Living on the edge of credibility', addressing the challenge of defending our beliefs and preaching to other religious people and atheists, and 'Living on the edge of society', addressing the challenge of belonging to a Christian community with beliefs and values typically rejected by modern society. See this sample of the contents page.

3. How long is the book?

It's 600 pages long in standard US trade paperback format (6x9 inches), including a 100 page bibliography.

4. Will any of it be controversial?

The book upholds the views of the earliest Christadelphian commentators on issues such as the relationship of science and Scripture, the age of the universe and the earth, whether the flood was local or global, and the authorship of various books of the Bible. That will be controversial for those who disagree with those views, or who are unaware of views held by the earliest Christadelphian expositors. However, I aim to minimize controversy. For example, since evolution is a highly divisive issue the book does not address it at all.

5. How can people purchase the book?

I am aiming to have it printed locally in Taiwan, made available in November 2013, and posted internationally. The purchase price will be US$15 per hardcopy (a free ebook version is included with every hardcopy), and it will be launched on this [2] crowd sourced funding site.

6. Why are you using crowd sourced funding?

Crowd sourced funding involves presenting a project with a budget to the public, and inviting people to pledge funds for the products or services the project offers. Fundraising takes place over a limited time (30 days is typical), at the end of which the project may or may not have raised enough money to cover its budget. No one is charged any money if the project fails to raise its budget. I chose this route since I do not have a publisher for this book, which means I need to pay for the printing myself up front. Crowd sourced funding is a safe way to see if I can raise the capital for an initial minimum print run of 500 copies.

The professor, God, Faith and the student

TAKE TIME TO READ. It's worth reading it. Trust me :)

Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, you believe in GOD ?

Student : Absolutely, sir.

Professor : Is GOD good ?

Student : Sure.

Professor: Is GOD all powerful ?

Student : Yes.

Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

(Student was silent.)

Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is GOD good?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Is satan good ?

Student : No.

Professor: Where does satan come from ?

Student : From … GOD …

Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?

Student : Yes.

Professor: So who created evil ?

(Student did not answer.)

Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, who created them ?

(Student had no answer.)

Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son, have you ever seen GOD?

Student : No, sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?

Student : No , sir.

Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?

Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?

Student : Yes.

Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Professor: Yes.

Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

Professor: Yes.

Student : No, sir. There isn’t.

(The lecture theater became very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)

Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?

Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, well you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?

Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ?

Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.

Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class was in uproar.)

Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?

(The class broke out into laughter. )

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.

Student : That is it sir … Exactly ! The link between man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that keeps things alive and moving.

P.S.

I believe you have enjoyed the conversation. And if so, you’ll probably want your friends / colleagues to enjoy the same, won’t you?

Forward this to increase their knowledge … or FAITH.

By the way, that student was EINSTEIN.

Race, Skin color and differences

On our debate "Where does Satan lives?" Debralyn Potter wrote:

I do have a question, when everyone was sent out with a different language to different lands, where did different colored skin come from?  Asian eyes, etc?
Figured the people of Africa, the ones with skin that could handle the sun, were more likely to survive and keep creating even darker as time went on..
Then thought wait a minute what about eye shapes?
I don't get lost in this, only curious.

I anwered that this brought us to an other topic, namely the differences between humans, and animals.
I think the different skincolors and differences in noses and eyes came from the evolution, the body adapting to the climates and the environment. (To protect against sun rays, light, temperature/ having the sin covered or not, etc.)
Was it not the Creator His choice?

“Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may
ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.” (Jer 13:23 ASV)

Debralyn Potter replied:
I would believe that the traits in the humans dna that could withstand the cold, that person would be able to survive there, thus others like this one too.So they would be the stronger people with the strongest traits who mated and on and on.
I don't believe in evolution. If that were true we would not have species going extinct because of dire weather changes. They cannot adapt if they do not have the dna to do that.
Does not matter how many species you put in a certain area, if they don't have the dna to pass on, with other like species, they die.
Jehovah made every animal to be with his kind for a reason. You can put as many African lions as you want in cold cold Alaska, they would all die. Same as Polar Bears in Africa.
You all are helping with this so much!! thank you! Love, debilyn
+
My experience is this is talking about ones who are choosing to bad and won't follow Jehovah.
He is saying a leopard cannot change his spots,  and the Cush'ite change the color of his skin, same as these people who have turned against Jehovah's, who had free will and chose evil not good. It is unchangeable. love, debilyn

The Origin of Life on Earth: Creation or Evolution?

The Origin of Life on Earth: Creation or Evolution?
Are the evolutionists right? Is there no better explanation for the mystery of life than the theory of evolution with all its flaws? We need to ask questions, and not take everything for granted just because a text book says so.
