Transgender Netwerk Nederland: Nashvilleverklaring is strafbaar

 

De uitlatingen in de Nashvilleverklaring uit januari 2019 zijn wel degelijk strafbaar. Dat vinden Transgender Netwerk Nederland en de Nederlandse Organisatie voor Seksediversiteit. Op woensdag 9 juni lichtten de belangenorganisaties hun standpunt toe in het Paleis van Justitie in Amsterdam.

Vorig jaar liet het Openbaar Ministerie weten dat uitlatingen in Nashvilleverklaring niet strafbaar zijn.

 'Bij de juridische toets is het van doorslaggevend belang geweest dat de uitlatingen in de Nashvilleverklaring in direct verband staan met de geloofsovertuiging van degenen die betrokken waren bij de Nashvilleverklaring, en voor hen van betekenis zijn in het maatschappelijk debat dat zij willen voeren. Zowel de vrijheid van godsdienst als de vrijheid van meningsuiting is vastgelegd in de Grondwet en het Europees Verdrag voor de Rechten van de Mens.'

 Brand Berghouwer voorzitter van Transgender Netwerk Nederland (TNN) en Miriam van der Have, directeur van de Nederlandse Organisatie voor Seksediversiteit (NNID) vinden dat 

“Discriminatie van transgender en intersekse personen wordt niet altijd herkend. Daarom is het zo belangrijk dat de rechter nu inziet dat er wel degelijk sprake is van aanzetten tot discriminatie en uitsluiting,” 

In gesprek met het Reformatorisch Dagblad laat ds. M. van Reenen, één van de initiatiefnemers van de Nashvilleverklaring, weten dat hij woensdag is ingelicht over de acie van TNN en NNID.

 "Maar voor zover ik het kan zien, is er geen wezenlijke nieuwe juridische basis ontstaan waardoor het OM nu wél tot vervolging over zou moeten gaan. Vervolging lijkt dus niet reëel."

In totaal ontving het college vorig jaar 4730 vragen en meldingen in verband met discriminatie, 17 procent meer dan het jaar ervoor. De meeste registraties bij antidiscriminatiebureaus, politie en MiND betroffen discriminatie op grond van herkomst. Daarnaast klopten veel mensen bij de bureaus aan met meldingen van discriminatie op basis van een handicap en geslacht.

Cincinnati outlaws quoting the Bible

From the beginning of December 2015 quoting the bible is considered an illegal offence in that major city. 

You may wonder how people can come so far to declare a  quotation from any civil writing justified and proving of intelligence, knowing such literature, but bringing quotes from the Bible being a criminal act.

At a meeting of the Cincinnati City Council’s law and public safety committee, Councilmember Chris Seelbach is said to
 “propose an ordinance that would impose a $200-a-day fine on a therapist or counselor practicing the therapy that aims to “change” lesbians, gay men, bisexuals or transgender people from their sexual orientation or gender identity,”
according to Cincinnati.com.

While a handful of states have passed similar rules and regulations, no major city in the U.S. has done so, leaving many to think that Cincinnati is leading the way of wickedness.
People have chosen to use the term “wickedness” because using this law is nothing short of a denial of the biblical doctrine of sanctification, threatening sickening fines of $73,000 per year to a counselor that uses 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 to help those caught in sin:
“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
According to some Americans this means that
Essentially, anyone who refuses to bow their knee to the idol of sexual anarchy will be forced to pay the price.

The law which is aimed at abolishing therapies which seek to guide homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders away from what the Most High God considers sinful tendencies, and instead steer them towards a heterosexual, biblically correct lifestyle.

Those therapists who believe in the Word of God and in the Power of that Word, become now more limited. Parents who also believe in God and want to follow the Word of God are by this law also limited by their choice of therapist and by bringing their child with an other feeling in contact with others who could help this young person.

Those families who seek out guidance from Christian-based counselors because they prefer to receive help from someone who is like-minded and shares their deeply-held religious views are now restricted in their freedom of choice and freedom of expression. The Bible helps those troubled by all sorts of sexual sin, not just homosexuality, but now it will be illegal for anyone in Cincinnati to obtain spiritual guidance for anything from extramarital affairs to premarital sex.

This is a very strange situation for a country which claims to be for the freedom of man and freedom of thoughts. for the restriction of weapon carrying they do everything calling on the amendments of the American constitution and the so holy American rights. Though for many a silencing of those who believe in the Bible seems a normal case to take in this contemporary world where there has total sexual freedom.

Two synods and life in the church community

At the  moment two synods may fetch the news.
the most spoke off is the meeting of the Catholic bishops at the Vatican. the other one is of the Church of England. They have a General Synod that experienced such a struggle over women bishops, only 28 per cent of the clergy voted on to it were women, and not one of them was under 40. Those who were openly part of racial, disability, or LGBT minority groups were woefully under-represented in the decisions that the Church made about them.

In Church Times Revd Sally Hitchiner is Chaplain to Brunel University, London, argues that we need to put our votes where our tweets are.
She writes:
The challenge and opportunity that we are facing now is that the General Synod seems to be leading and speaking for the Church more than the rest of us are. More column inches are given to Synod statements than to any other branch of the Church. The Reform and Renewal movement is Synod-led, not merely bishop-led. The opportunities for this Synod to have an impact on daily life for us all are considerable.

After Pope Francis‘s tour of the United States he looked having become much older and being very slow when he opened the Vatican’s synod on marriage and family topics.

Last year bishops gathered for an extraordinary synod on the family and they will continue on that issue to see what can be amended after the church-fathers spoke with their priests and flock. This synod should end with a document, and possibly from that document Francis will write an apostolic exhortation.

The very conservative  John Paul II presented some years ago the "Theology of the Body" but all that the Catholic church did seemed very far away from what Catholics were doing and believing. In Belgium every Catholic seems to make up his own sort of belief and does not really follow up what the Pope describes. The Catholic Church did not help it by not heaving an ear for divorced Catholics who still wanted to receive communion or to get remarried for the church.
The Catholic understanding of marriage is lofty enough that a “cheap grace” that gives up too early defrauds the recipients from a great gift – the strength that comes with fighting through hardship. But so many people, mostly women, have been damaged unspeakably by an ethic that is unrelenting in its call to keep returning to a bad relationship that the Church has to be sensitive to the need to protect its more vulnerable members. {Writing straight with our crooked lines: #Synod15, family, and the hot issues; Reading Francis}
writes somebody who claims to have studied Catholic social thought in graduate school 20 years ago.

When we do see and hear Pope Francis I  we get the impression he is really some one who is willing to listen to the ordinary folks and to come closer to them. this pope also wants to show the importance of forgiving love, and this could help into the guidelines for openness for those who went wrong in their life and want to restart again.

Too often the clerics had forgotten how the church community is made up by those people who walk every day on the street as unnoticed ordinary human beings, with their small and big problems in life. For much too long the church-leaders have been absent from their real life and did not have enough ears fro their little and big problems. Perhaps there might change something now.

Tony Campolo Calls for Full Inclusion of LGBT Into the Church

What is moving in the United States? Are churches looking at their income decreasing because people saying they prefer to have an other sex or loving the same sex as they have?

Matthew Vines considered it a victory just to get into a room at a conservative Christian university with four influential evangelicals who disagreed with him over what the Bible says about homosexuality. He ended up in a polite, heartfelt three-hour debate last month over Scripture passages about topics like celibacy, eunuchs, slavery — and the connections between sex and marriage.

The founder of Red Letter Christians and Emergent Church leader Tony Campolo has called for full inclusion of gay and lesbian “Christians” into the church.  Campolo is a “Progressive Christian” (read: liberal) so it comes as no surprise that he would go against the clear teaching of Scripture on the sin of homosexuality.

Tony Campolo, one of the country’s leading progressive evangelicals, announced that he had changed his mind and now believed that churches should fully accept committed same-sex couples:
Rest assured that I have already heard – and in some cases made – every kind of biblical argument against gay marriage, including those of Dr. Ronald Sider, my esteemed friend and colleague at Eastern University. Obviously, people of good will can and do read the scriptures very differently when it comes to controversial issues, and I am painfully aware that there are ways I could be wrong about this one.
However, I am old enough to remember when we in the Church made strong biblical cases for keeping women out of teaching roles in the Church, and when divorced and remarried people often were excluded from fellowship altogether on the basis of scripture. Not long before that, some Christians even made biblical cases supporting slavery. Many of those people were sincere believers, but most of us now agree that they were wrong. I am afraid we are making the same kind of mistake again, which is why I am speaking out.

Same sex realtionships and Open attitude mirroring Jesus

In Hiding or opening attitude for same sex relationships we pointed out that it perhaps would be better that people questioned themselves which attitude Jesus would take, before they judge somebody.

Director of Oasis Trust, Steve Chalke believes about our attitude to people who have an other feeling for giving their love to somebody are changing, albeit very slowly. Despite the Oasis Trust being forced to leave the Evangelical Alliance over his views on homosexuality,
 "it's amazing how the conversation won't go away. In fact it's growing, I think it's unstoppable,"
 he said.
"We as Christians should be intolerant of intolerance. I think that we should be on the front line of human and civil rights, and I think it's a tragedy that so often, as history has recorded, we drag our feet...The church is supposed to be standing up for faithfulness, integrity and family."
Chalke thinks that the Church will eventually come out in favour of faithful, same-sex relationships.
"I think the sandcastle of resistance is being overwhelmed by the incoming tide," he said.

After the rows and debates that have dominated for the past few years, one image of Britain's Christians is of a people obsessed with rules around sex and with stopping people from having sex, especially when it is gay sex or sex outside marriage.

there may not be many people in church any more but of those who are there we should not that one in 200 regular churchgoers have entered a formal relationship with someone of the same sex, according to research published in July 2014. In that survey conducted by Christian Research for Christian Today there was found that 0.6 per cent of churchgoers are in a civil partnership, slightly more than the number cohabiting.

Although statistically small, given the size of the survey, the number is high considering the widespread hostility to homosexual relationships among the leadership of many Christian churches. The Church of England and Catholic churches believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.
The poll researched 1,400 people aged over 16 who were representative of the country's churchgoing communities.

More than one in 20, or 5.8 per cent, were divorced or separated compared to six out of ten who were married. More than one in 20, or 6.5 per cent, were remarried after divorce.
More than two-thirds said that Christians should not cohabit before marriage, and nearly as many also believed Christians should marry other Christians, rather than those of other or no faith.

More than two-thirds believed that personal desire need not necessarily translate into physical sex. However, more than seven in ten agreed or strongly agreed:
 "My spouse/partner and I love the physical part of our relationship."
Nearly seven in ten thought their spouse or partner had been specially "put aside" for them by God, while fewer than half did or do prayer about the kind of person they wish to marry. Friends or family had tried to find matches for more than one in ten, and nearly half looked for their ideal partner within a Christian church or community. More than a third felt "carefree" during their dating days, but a fifth felt pressure to find the "right person".

Nearly eight in ten felt it important to marry another Christian and more than eight in ten did indeed marry another person of the Christian faith. Just one tenth had not been Christian before they married. those Christian communities which demand that people marry only people from the same faith-group forget to see that there are not enough people living around to provide enough partners. For smaller communities like the Christadelphians youngsters face even less possibilities to find a partner from the same Christadelphian community.

The proportion in civil partnerships is about half the number of people in the general population who describe themselves as gay. According to an Office for National Statistics survey last year 93.5 per cent of people are heterosexual, 1.1 per cent gay or lesbian and 0.4 per cent bisexual.

About getting parents and church-leaders to get to hear an other choice than the man-wife relationship the youngsters are still hesitant to let others know their taste. They are confronted with lots of talks about "healthy" and "unhealthy" physical relationships of married churchgoers. Not only is there today the problem in many church communities of being able to talk openly how to build up a sexual relationship or to discuss the feeling of becoming more confident to explore with enjoyment their God-given gift of sexual pleasure in marriage without some of the historical taboos and anxieties that have often traditionally shrouded the Christian sexual culture.

It took some time before the Belgian church wanted to react more openly after the many sex scandals about their priests and even bishops having had sexual intercourse with people of the same sex.

In 2014 on several occasions the Bishop of Antwerp, Rt Rev Johan Bonny, said that there should be "a recognition of diversity of forms" of relationship and gave the impression to be open for gay people in his community and for giving again communion to separated or remarried people.
"We have to look inside the Church for a formal recognition of the kind of interpersonal relationship that is also present in many gay couples,"
the Catholic 'church-father' said.
"Just as there are a variety of legal frameworks for partners in civil society, one must arrive at a diversity of forms in the Church."
We can see that the general public seems to become more open and acceptable for divorced people, which is no more considered abnormal, but more the traditional trend, nor to look surprised to find people who prefer to have an intimate relationship with somebody of the own sex or to even have a sex change. As such we get women who became man marrying with men who became woman, but also men with men and women with women.

Though the general public does not seem to be interested much in the long-standing relationship, the Roman Catholic church still finds intrinsic values more important than the institutional question and that those who want to live together should know that the Christian ethic is based on lasting relationships where exclusivity, loyalty, and care are central to each other.

That picture of "exclusivity, loyalty, and care for each other" was the main value which lots of people could not see because the wrong image given by gay-parades which accentuated a perverse form of living and presented a promotion for sodomy, which no church could ever allow  to happen under its flock.

Before the Vatican's Synod on the Family in October, Bonny issued an open letter saying that the Church needed to show more respect for homosexuality, divorced people and modern kinds of relationships.

While traditional marriage between a man and a woman
 "will continue to retain its own particular sacramental character and liturgical form", he said, "this particularity does not have to be exclusive nor does it have to close the door on a diversity of relationships whose inner qualities the Church can acknowledge".
He continued:
"Indeed, we need to seek a formal recognition of the kind of relationship that exists between many gay and lesbian couples. Does that recognition have to be a sacramental marriage? Perhaps the Church could much better reflect on a diversity of forms of relationships."
The last few years we have seen this diversity of forms of relationships growing a lot. We also find more and more clergy who agree that the church often did not treat other feeling people rightly. as such we could find Rt Rev Alan Wilson, who said at a PinkNews Awards that he is "ashamed" at the way gay people have been treated by the Church of England; and theologian Tony Campolo, who says he is
"conservative on the issue of the Bible and same-sex relationships".
We also can notice that more Christian artists and theologians are coming out and not only tell that they are gay but also are not ashamed any more to show their relationship with the other.

Though still many may look at others with a 'bad eye'. some do not want to talk about it openly , but do not mind to talk underhanded about 'certain people living a sinful lifestyle' and 'how wrong it is'. They are happy to throw with mud, but not openly, and forget that some two thousand years ago there was a teacher in Galilee who wanted to show people they had to take on an other attitude. That master teacher also asked those who wanted to throw stones to others to look first in their own heart and if they could find no sin, than perhaps they could react heavily.

Jesus didn’t judge those who were different and asked us also not to judge them but to leave the judging to his heavenly Father, God. It is this Divine Creator Who allows people to be here on earth. When He allows those who have other feelings than us to be here what are we to say? God did not  put us here to judge others.

We have the Bible that tells us what is right and what is wrong, but we’re not to pass judgement. People forget that God doesn’t grade on a curve; the heterosexual couple living together down the street is just as guilty as the gay couple living across the street. How are you to draw people to Christ if you have appointed yourself judge and jury?

When we look at others and when we would like to react we always should consider What Would Jesus Do! For sure we cann't put ourselves above Jesus, and should take into account his teachings. We also should take on an open attitude to draw them closer to Jesus his teachigns and to the Word of God, so that they can come to know it and live according it.

By bringing condemnation over those people we shall not be able to bring them closer to God. Just the opposite, we shall be able to keeping them at a distance or to cause that they shall come to judge All Christians as judgemental hypocrites.

We must be very careful that we live and act according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and approach people with the same attitude Jesus would do, which is with an open mind full of love and without judgement.

Let us always try to mirror our saviour Jesus Christ and remember:
Jas 4:10-12 The Scriptures 1998+  (10)  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Master, and He shall lift you up.  (11)  Brothers, do not speak against one another. He that speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against Torah and judges Torah. And if you judge Torah, you are not a doer of Torah but a judge.  (12)  There is one Lawgiver and Judge, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?

What’s church for, anyway?

On WordPress appeared on a blog the question: What’s church for, anyway?

The writer of the article had several questions on his  mind about faith, the way of worshipping, commuting and meeting.

He had been following along with according to him a really interesting conversation on a couple different blogs lately that feeds into some stuff that’s been floating around in my head lately. Namely:
  • What’s church for?
  • Why do people go to church?
  • What role should churches and religious institutions and communities play in the world?
  • Do people of faith live out their spiritual or religious ideas/beliefs/inclinations in the world? Should they? How? Why? Why not?
One of the conversationalists when he grew older his relationship to the church waned, but for him Jesus  seemingly never did.He found his way back to his, probably original, faith. His journey took him through twists and turns of self discovery, listening to some telling him he should never come out if he knew what was good for him. His faith was like shifting sand. The faith of his friend — from his point of view — has been like a rock: weathered, beautiful, solid and still there. Today they would say of themselves that they are both deeply faithful people.
what is important is that faith should move mountains.

One of the debaters is a 'father' in the Old Catholic church who saw himself suddenly confronted with the remark “And pray that they don’t become child molesters” when he had written “Please pray for our Seminarians, as they take the next step in their preparation for the Priesthood. Pray that the Lord will continue to send workers for the vineyard.”

He works with youth, has small siblings that he adores, and he loves little kids. He likes to smile and wave at little kids on the bus, make funny faces and place peek-a-boo with babies in strollers, coo and grin, and he feels now like he can no longer do those things; or he has to be incredibly cautious when he do them lest he be seen as threatening. It makes him angry. And sad.
He is angry at the people who use the abusers to blame and scapegoat queer people. He is angry at all of the people who think that queer people are sexual deviants, sinners, or predators. He is angry that instead of figuring out who the actual abusers are and getting them the help they need that the community instead scapegoat queer people.

To me, he seems to forget that that he has to bear a social function of an example of a child of God. In the Catholic Church it may happen a lot that there are queer priests, who may consider it a normal thing. They even often do not understand why today they will always been seen as a double threat, both for being a priest and also for their queerness. It makes him sad that he has to worry about greeting children, that he can’t be himself.

He wants to reclaim the priesthood. He wants to reclaim the image of the Priest as the person who shows up when you are in need, who helps to craft rituals that bring life meaning, who walks with people in their lives and spiritual journeys. He wants "to take back the collar as a sign of hope and blessing" he says.But is that collar really the sign of hope and blessing, and does it represent the work of the Elohim Most High God?

He would like to reclaim the idea that priests are people who can be trusted, but seemingly forgets what damage that church has done in the past and how many representatives have lied so much the last few years.How can he want to earn the trust of people. He would like people to begin to see the collar as something trustworthy again, as a symbol of something good but forgets that several of his colleagues have damaged the church in general horribly.

In many countries the paedophile priests not only damaged the soul of their victims, they made that people got enough from church and the religious institutions.

 On of the other respondents says: "When a person, organization, or government opposes the full equality of queer people, they create a gulf between themselves and me. If there is division when queers come out or speak up, we do not create it; we simply bring attention to the division which is already there, a division we did not create."
"I am no longer a member of the church I grew up in. Though the process of separating myself from my church was painful at the time, it was inevitable. My church had cut me out of its body long before I came out."

Brian Gerald Murphy, an activist, author, and entrepreneur, asks his readers to leave their churches that exclude queer people and join congregations that affirm them. He asks his readers to cultivate a chosen family that is full of lesbian, gay, transgender, and queer folks.

It looks also like several of those 'different feeling' people want the world to believe all this would have to be accepted as the normal standard and that we should work with them to build solidarity movements that cut across race, class, nationality, immigration status, physical and mental ability, and any other gulf of division which has been created to keep them apart (according to their saying). They ask that believers would leave the places which divide and join the places which empower.

They wonder if God is someone who wants us to ultimately take charge of our own destiny and to make our own decisions, regardless of what those choices are? Or does God demand self-emptying and, ultimately, to recognize that He is Creator and we are all his creatures, not in burdensome slavery but in joyful surrender? Was Adam’s choice a once-and-for-all choice for mankind? Or do we each get to choose anew?

I think we all have to face a personal road where we ourselves have to make our own decisions.  I am afraid, no matter how you turn it, each of us has to take on his or her responsibility in their own choices. In constantly inspecting and examining him or herself. To be courageous and unrelenting. This may be scary stuff but it is what is demanded by the Creator Himself. To question one’s self. One’s foundations. The things one holds dearly.

Each person has to decide if they want to be part of the World or be part of Jehovah God.

Each person has to make the choice what to believe and how to handle this faith. Each person is himself or herself responsible for the attitude they take.

People do like to put labels on everything and to qualify people and everything else in "boxes".

Those bloggers got *shocked*  when they  re-read the gospel of Luke, and when they where to re-remember just how RADICAL Jesus is. According to them he is constantly going against the grain of (Roman, pharisaic) society–standing for the oppressed, etc – and he is 'public' about it. Explicitly so. "I guess he never issued a hard-copy, political statement, but his followers sure did: that’s how we have the Gospels."   wrote. "So what does that mean for contemporary followers of Jesus? Is it enough to support only the queer people who come through the doors of our congregations? But what about those who never find the Porch?" She has her tears confusing her, because as far as she can tell, she is not sad about getting older. She greet her thirties with mostly enthusiasm, knowing many undiscovered things await her in the next decade. But as the dawn of her life breaks to late-morning sunshine, she is left to wonder: as new opportunities open up, which opportunities are closing to her?

Every person in the world would like to know where he or she stands in the universe. Every human being wants to be part of humanity and being appreciated and being recognised. We all want some place in the community.

Being part of the community often brings people also to wanting to find a place in the small community of the city, town or village. Parish life becomes important and one to be part of.

When we walk around in our small world, we shall give impressions to others. No matter how, but the way we dress, the way we look, the way we act, the way we talk, send out political messages to others. Even regardless of our intent. You may question if we can control the way we are perceived, but we should understand and be conscious that all of us enter into the world each day as political actors, whether we like it or not. People will read us a certain way, even if they themselves also have a responsibility to look past the surface. The question at hand is: is that important to you? And if so, what are you going to do about it?

For a person of godly faith this should be very much important. Our attitude should be an example to others and should be a proof of the choices we have made in our life.The way we behave should show to others that we are followers of Christ Jesus and that we do want to follow Christ and God's commandments.

In a way we should show others that we have given ourselves in the hands of Jesus, our master teacher, and are willing not to take ourselves as the king of the universe, but to accept him as the mediator between God and us.

For religious institutions, religious houses or churches, and spiritual communities it should be alike. They should be an example to the world and let it see where they stand for, what they believe, and who they want to follow. The institution has to make it clear if it wants to gain popularity by the masses, the popular crowd of this world, or perhaps to be not in agreement with the majority of people, and not be so popular by every body, but separated a little bit by keeping to the rules dictated in very old scriptures.

Some may think we do not need to reach out our hands to help our neighbours, because we are our neighbours, connected through a common humanity. In this kind of construct, we don’t have the privilege to “struggle” with an “issue”, but in the community we do have to stick out our hand to others, willing to care for the other person and willing to go together on the road in which we do believe that it shall bring us to a better life.

The ecclesia or church, should be the meeting place where everybody is assembling, willing to accept each other with his or her own peculiarity. It should be the place where everybody is not only willing to “walk the walk” in their personal lives, but also to bind themselves together to create a collective power in order to combat systemic injustice.

As the blogger Alison rightly says: "Jesus didn’t live in a vacuum: the parables he taught, the people he embraced, and the illnesses he healed made social commentaries upon the world around him. He upset people in power, and was killed because of it. If we really live in the model that Jesus set, then we are also called to fight the abuses of power in our world. But first we actually need to name what is wrong with the way things are, and envision what a better world might look like, especially if we expect things to change."

Many people are afraid to "name" those things or to say where they stand for or what they really believe. Lots of things in this world go wrong because people do not tell the truth or do not show their real "me", their real own personality, afraid of what other might think. Openness is some thing where we should strive for in a community where brotherly love should come in the first place.

Christians should be followers of Christ Jesus and come together to meet each other as brothers and sister, making a town of Christ or a Christadelphia.

In history sadly enough, churches have sidestepped the toughest questions: slavery, discrimination, homophobia, poverty, political corruption, and the failings of marriage. Today we see the price they pay for being permitted to operate publicly and Music&Meaning thinks it is wise to keep some psychological distance when in church.But in church we should keep an open mind and be willing to discuss all sorts of problems with each other. Yes it may be a debating place, but such one that everything is compared with what is written in the Bible, the Word of God. It is that Word of the Most High which should be our major guide.

Those gathering in a private house, a public hall or church-building, in the name of God, should try to dispose themselves of labelling people. We have to disembarrass our selves and share the best of ourselves with others, freeing ourselves of the burdens of this commercial world.

But it may not be a place where we strip all the values and ethics just to let all sorts of people feel at ease. Never may the group of people elude the teachings of Christ and circumvent the commandments of God to gain popularity. That is what happened in the past so much with many churches.

Even when being in the 21st century, we should go back to the roots of the first century, and learn from the apostles meeting. Though it may look old fashioned and not of this time to still keep up a tradition or wanting to meet like they did two millennia ago. Be sure, in the New testament we do find the example how to make church, and that is still valid today.

Church should be the place where everybody can find comfort and come closer to God.
